Hemophilia of Iowa Scholarship Fund

Scholarship: Hemophilia of Iowa Scholarship Fund
Summary: Member families of Hemophilia of Iowa (HOI) with a high school senior enrolled in a degree seeking program at an accredited U.S. college, university or trade school may seek one of several scholarships for students with bleeding disorders or immediate family members of persons with a bleeding disorder. Applicants must have an active treatment plan for either hemophilia or a related bleeding/clotting disorder and submit an essay about the applicant’s career plans, relationship with the bleeding disorder community and contributions within the community. HOI also offers three scholarships named after David N. Brustkern, John Heisner and Dude Cramer which have the same requirements as the general scholarship, but also require a letter of recommendation from a HOI Board Member or a Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) staff member, and an essay from the applicant about their involvement in the chapter.

Applications are submitted through a link on the website. Essays required for named scholarships are then emailed to Thomas Savage.
