Important: The student must be at least a sophomore in college. Applicants who have not yet graduated from high school will not be considered. High school students entering college in the fall are not eligible to apply with the exception of those who have achieved sophomore status via high school AP course credits.

Selected semi-finalists will submit 2 essays due March 27th and a letter of recommendation by April 3rd, 2022 as the second part of the application process.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit through an application process that is evaluated by a committee. Gruber and Miller scholarships are for one year only, but recipients can re-apply and receive the award up to four times. The blinded veteran family member is not required to be a BVA member for the spouse or child to receive a scholarship. Qualifications for both programs are the same except for an added emphasis on music and fine arts for the Miller award.

Several scholarships at the graduate and undergraduate level for students with moderate-to-profound hearing loss enrolled in full-time, or applied to, a mainstream four-year college or university. Listening and spoken language must be the applicant’s primary mode of communication.
Hearing loss must have been diagnosed before the applicant's fourth birthday (pre-lingual hearing loss), and hearing loss must be bilateral and in the moderately severe to profound range.

The fund was formed to provide awareness of chronic disorders to the public and to stimulate, foster, and encourage interest, awareness and activism at the state and national level with reference to the fight against chronic disorders. This $1,000 scholarship is provided to High School Seniors living with a chronic disorder and continuing their education at a college or university.

The BEF Scholarship Program committee considers the applicant’s scholastic ability, character, leadership potential, service to the community and need for financial assistance. Once candidates have been selected as semi-finalists, they will be granted a phone interview with a committee member.
Applicants must have an active treatment plan for either hemophilia or a related bleeding/clotting disorder and submit an essay about the applicant’s career plans, relationship with the bleeding disorder community, and contributions within the community. HOI also offers three scholarships named after David N. Brustkern, John Heisner, and Dude Cramer which have the same requirements as the general scholarship, but also require a letter of recommendation from an HOI Board Member or a Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) staff member, and an essay from the applicant about their involvement in the chapter.
$1,000 is awarded to individuals with a bleeding disorder and $500 for an immediate family member of a person with a bleeding disorder.

Applicants must be an undergraduate or graduate student who has cystic fibrosis and whose service and commitment to the prevention and cure of CF is exemplary. The scholarship committee will select finalists, who will be interviewed thereafter. The award recipient will be chosen by a majority vote.
Applicants must be a high school senior or undergraduate student who has cystic fibrosis and demonstrates scholastic ability, athletic ability (as evidenced by regular exercise), character, leadership, service to the community, need for financial assistance, and daily compliance to CF therapy. The student-athlete should jog on a regular basis and be training for the 1.5-mile qualifying run. All candidates will be judged based on time.
Applicants must be diagnosed with hemophilia B and be a US citizen or legal US resident and be entering or attending secondary education in the United States. Students who are pursuing or resuming a degree later in adulthood may apply even if there was a gap in their academic career.
